"This is a beautifully chosen and sung album of a capella Christmas music sung by Vancouver's chamber-sized chorus, Laudate, conducted by Lars Kaario. Wonderful basses hold down endless pedal-points in the grave Ave, generosa by the 12th-century composer Hildegard von Bingen, and from this antiquity the music ranges through Poulenc's matchless Quatre Motets pour le temps de Nöel to the present, with John Tavener's haunting The Lamb."
