Composer in Residence

Emile Deedes-Vincke

Laudate Singers’ current Composer-in-Residence grew up in North Vancouver and is currently a third-year student at Capilano University. He is studying for his Classical Music Diploma as a voice major. After joining his first choir in 2016 at Seycove Secondary School he wrote his first piece near the end of that school year. He quickly fell in love with the choral world and found his passion for composition. Capilano University Singers performed his composition, Winter, on their Okanagan tour February 2019, and took his Laudate Dominum on their 2019 tour to Italy. Laudate Singers performed his piece Stars March 2020, and will perform Where the Earth is Quiet later this year. His piece Ignite, commissioned by Laudate in May 2019, is now published on Cypress Music and has received significant exposure. Ignite has been a chosen workshop piece at Cap Choral Intensive 2020, part of Capilano University Singers’ February 2020 tour to the Okanagan as well as the chosen piece for a virtual choir by CMYC.
